Managing Incontinence While Traveling

Do you have incontinence and you are a frequent flyer? The best thing that you should do is to get yourself prepared all the time, especially during the flight. A lot of people gets embarrassed because they were not prepared for the flight and that they have incontinence.

There are many incontinence products out there that you can use so you will not have problems leaking when you are not expecting to. Since people who are old or those who are sick are the ones that usually have incontinence, it is righteous that you should prepare the things that they are going to use before they do their daily activities.

The most common incontinence product is the adult diaper. This is the most basic item to prevent these people from leaking in public. These diapers work exactly the same with a baby diapers. It catches the urine of the person so it will not scatter and come out unnoticed.

As a person with incontinence, you must be prepared for all the activities that you do, especially if you are going on a trip. But most of the time, it is someone who is close to you, like your loved ones that needs these things. This is mostly because they are old enough, sick or impaired. As a result, you must prepare it for them because they are usually unaware of it.

If you are traveling with a person who has an incontinence problem, you must have all their incontinence supplies around, so that if that person needs to go to the bathroom or unnoticeably leaked, then there is no problem because you were prepared. It is also advisable that you must have all the necessary products that this person needs.

You can also manage these people's incontinence by making them avoid over consumption of diuretics, antidepressants, antihistamines and cough-cold medicines. This will help them process fewer products in their body. Also, these people must perform Kegel exercises in a daily basis so that they will stay fit for the rest of the day. Double voiding is also a good thing to do as a preparation. This is a process where the person urinates and waits for a few seconds and then urinates again. This will help them get used to controlling the urination movement. In addition to that, this person must retrain the bladder. this is a process where this person should urinate every three to six hours only.

People with incontinence must eat fruits, vegetables and whole grains everyday so that they can control and prevent constipation, especially if they are going for a trip. Healthy living is always the best solution to any health problems. If this person is a smoker, he or she must refrain from doing so because the nicotine from cigarettes irritates the bladder which helps your incontinence problems get worse.

There are numerous protective devices and products that you must prepare for the person with incontinence when flying. Some of them are the bed pads, combination pad-pant systems, disposable or reusable adult diapers, full-length absorbent undergarments, male incontinence drip collectors and underwear liners. The underwear liners come with pads, guards, shields and inserts. It is better that you are prepared than to get embarrassed especially during the flight.

The Town of Shiva in Tamil Nadu

Tiruvannamalai, 85 km from Vellore in northern Tamil Nadu seems a quiet, non-descript town like many another and yet it is a hidden gem. For worshippers of Shiva or Shaivites, it is of immense importance as Shiva is revered here as Arunachaleswar, an aspect of fire.

Mount Arunachal, an 800 meter high boulder strewn hill looms tall above the town keeping a watchful eye over its residents. Each full moon this hill has thousands of devotees circumnavigating its base, about 14 km in all. A common sight in the town is Shaivite priests, sadhus and devotees all flocking to Shiva's temple - the Arunachaleswar temple.

The Arunachaleswar temple is huge and one of the largest and certainly one of the most captivating, in the country. The temple goes back to the 11th century but most of the existing structure dates back to the 17th and 19th centuries. At each of the four cardinal points is a huge unpainted tower or gopuram, four in all.

The eastern gopuram, the main entrance and through which you enter, is quite special. It is 66 meters tall and rises to 13 stories. You walk down a covered walkway to the main entrance. On each side is a bazaar with vendors selling trinkets, flowers and prasadam (offerings). It is quite a unique ambiance.

As you enter the precincts of the temple you see a 1000 pillared gallery/hall or mandapam on the right and a large water tank on the left. Follow the devotees through the main courtyard to the main shrine with a Shiva lingam (Shiva's phallic symbol). Here in the sanctum sanctorum puja is held in the morning and evening.

Legend has it that Shiva appeared as a column of fire on Mount Arunachaleswar, creating the original symbol of the lingam, by which he is known to this day. Each November/December full moon, the Karthikai Deepam Festival, one of India's oldest festival, celebrates this legend throughout the country, though the festival has particular significance in Tiruvannamalai.

Here a huge fire, lit from a 30-meter wick dipped in 2000 liters of ghee (clarified butter) blazes from the top of Mount Arunachal for days. Every home, no matter how humble, lights lamps in honour of Shiva. The fire symbolizes Shiva's light, which dispels evil and darkness.

During the time of the festival over half a million people converge on the town and circumnavigate the base of Mount Arunachal, known locally as Girivalam, and climb up barefoot, to pay obeisance to Shiva. If you think it is too much for you to circumnavigate the Mount on foot then take an autorickshaw and stop at small shrines and temples along the way.

To get a great view of the temple climb up at least part of the Mount. Follow the path that leads up past village homes near the northwest corner of the temple passing 2 caves, Virupaksha and Skandasraman. Sri Ramana Maharishi (a great sage) lived and meditated in these caves for over 20 years(1899 to 1922) after which he established the Sri Ramana Ashram, a little outside Tiruvannamalai. Ramana Maharishi died in 1950 after spending 50 years in contemplation. The Ashram is a peaceful place to meditate or even visit.

Many visitors like to take a side trip to the twin ruined 16th century forts of Rajagiri and Krishnagiri - which crown the hilltops near gingee (shin-gee) about 35 km out of Tiruvannamalai. Built by the kings of the mighty Vijayanagar Empire these forts lie deserted except for the visit of the occasional tourist and the local cowherds.

Why Take Your Travel Business Online?

If you're conservative then you probably haven't really taken your travel business online yet. Of course, you may beg to differ since you have your own business site complete with a booking engine as well, but you haven't really been there and done that if you don't have a presence on the social scene online.

Why Social Networking

Yes, my friend, taking your travel business online is as effective and important - if not more- than networking offline and people have learnt this time and again. It is really important to reach out to your target market via sites like Facebook and Twitter. The simple reason being that these are sites where people express their opinions.

These are sites where people make recommendations - they can praise a certain hotel to the heavens or they can trash it too, depending on the type of experiences they have had at the hotel. So along with providing stellar services to your guests, you have to make them feel wholly welcome.

Branding

Basically you have to establish a brand online as well as offline - you can consider it an extension of your offline image if you please. Look at your brand in the same way as you would, your product, your brand needs to have integrity and credibility just like the product.

Brand integrity is basically a measure of how trustworthy the market perceives a company to be. It is defined by the product value, behavior of the company, its employees etc. Therefore, taking your travel business online is important for establishing brand integrity.

So what can you do to be in a good position in this race? Tie up with people or sites which network with the best in the online travel business. It is not enough to merely have a Facebook page or thousands of followers on twitter. You have to have links with all the top Travel engines on the internet like:

? Expedia
? Kayak
? Makemytrip

Not just that you need to have a presence in magazines and online media portals as well. Try Travellersinsights or even Ezine, You will be surprised at the kind of results you get, I assure you. Take this one step further with a .mobi page of your own.

One Step Ahead

You might wonder what this .mobi page is. It's simple really, this is a website of your own - a mini one- that is designed to exclusively cater to SmartPhone users who access most of their information on the go in airports and places like that.

This is great because it is custom made for smart phones as a result of which the navigation and maneuverability of these sites is much easier using SmartPhones than websites.

Remember, moving with the times is really important and one of the crucial aspects of it, where the travel industry is concerned, is having an online presence. You should venture into e-Commerce technology, Mobile marketing, social media marketing and of course, online tourism marketing. Are you to take your travel business online?

These three cities contain treasures such as Heaven Lake, Nanshan Grassland, Flaming Mountains, Red Hill, Karez Wells, the Xinjiang Autonomous Region Museum, and the wonderful Jiaohe Ruins, the world's largest, oldest, and best preserved earthen city. Jiaohe is a particular treat; formerly home to 700 households, 6500 residents, and 865 soldiers, the city is surrounded on three sides by sheer cliffs. Carved almost entirely from the earth, these buildings provide a fascinating glimpse into the past of the Uyghur people.

Xinjiang is sometimes referred to as China's frontier. Kashgar, for instance, is mostly comprised of Uyghur people and has a very charming "old town" feel. Working With Animals in the World of Racing

There are plenty of people around the world who are in careers working with animals intended for racing. While this is, in many respects, rocky ground when it comes to the ethics of how the animals are treated, away from the professions associated with horse and greyhound racing there are other, often less serious roles attached to other forms of animal racing.

Pigeon racing

Due to their unique homing ability, pigeons have been bred in captivity for centuries - originally to carry important messages quickly over long distances. It is a little known fact that the Reuters News Agency began life as a pigeon information delivery service, carrying stockmarket information between Belgium and Germany. The sport of racing pigeons developed in Belgium in the mid 19th century. While there is little scope for doing it professionally these days, the pigeon trade would have been a great opportunity for working with animals in the 19th century.

Pigeon racing involves birds being sent out from their home lofts and then racing back. The time taken and the distance covered are recorded, with the fastest bird declared the winner. In Europe, the races tend to be over a distance of between 100 and 1,000 kilometres. One of the main dangers for pigeons involved in racing is becoming grounded and disorientated, meaning they then find it very hard to find their way back.

Camel racing

Camel racing is a particularly good opportunity for careers working with animals, for those in countries where camels are to be found. The sport is very popular in countries from Egypt and the Middle East, through to India, Mongolia and Australia. Following the strong disapproval from many regarding the use of child jockeys, the sport is beginning to fall into line with the practice in horse-racing of using shorter adults as jockeys. At full speed, racing camels can incredibly reach speeds of up to 65 km/h (40 mph) in bursts and 40 km/h for up to an hour - they're much quicker than they look!

Yak racing

If you're lucky enough to be working with animals in Tibet, Northern Pakistan or Mongolia, then you will probably already know about yak racing. An integral and hugely entertaining part of the horse festivals that take place in the region, yak racing is more about the glory of winning than winning prize money. Even so, at the Jyekundo Horse Festival in Tibet the crowds for the yak racing events can number up to 20,000 people.

Safari Holidays With the Big 5 - Buffalo

If you're looking for a sense of excitement and danger when you encounter the Big 5 on your safari holidays, then the African buffalo might seem like an odd choice, without the glamorous danger of lions or leopards. Many people have been fooled by the seemingly docile demeanour of the buffalo, only to swiftly discover why it is nicknamed 'the black death', or 'widowmaker'. Hunters learned a wounded animal might ambush and attack its pursuers. The African buffalo is, due to its unpredictable nature, one of the most dangerous animals you'll see on safari, and members of the species are reported to gore and kill over 200 people every year.

By the Horns

One feature you can use to identify an African buffalo on your safari holidays are their unique horns. A particular characteristic is that, unlike other horned animals such as goats or deer, the adult buffalo's horns have a fused base, forming a continuous bone shield over their brains and skulls that cannot easily be penetrated, even by a rifle bullet - further adding to their difficulty to hunt. The horns of the African buffalo earned it a place among the Big 5 in more ways than one! The distance between the tips of the horns can span over a metre, for large bulls.

Life As a Buffalo

One of the most successful grazers in Africa, the African buffalo can be seen in swamps, grasslands, and forests. You may have the best chance of spotting a herd while you're near to water on your safari holidays - while buffalo are not demanding with regard to their habitat, they require water daily, and depend on perennial sources. This is one of the factors that make older and more vulnerable buffalos likely to be attacked by crocodiles. While a buffalo's horns can kill a lion, groups of lions working together have been known to bring down a buffalo.

Social Behaviour

With all the details above, it may come as a surprise to learn that (amongst themselves, at least) buffalo are surprisingly social creatures. Adult male buffalos will spar in play with each other, and the same sort of display can be seen when two males are fighting for dominance. It's an incredible sight to see on your safari holidays. Actual fights between buffalo are rare, and brief when they occur. When threatened by predators, however, all such activities are put aside. A herd will stay close together, and make it hard for their predators to pick off one member of the group.?

Fun Stuff to Do in San Francisco

There's really a ton of fun stuff to do in San Francisco. Even if you've seen all the city's major attractions time and time again, there are plenty of ways you can still have a good time and discover something new. Maybe you need to find something totally different to do, or maybe you just need to look at old activities in a new way. Either way, here's some of the fun stuff to do in San Francisco right now:

Visit the Beat Museum and City Lights Bookstore

This is a great place to take teens who are getting into those anti-authority years. The Beat movement was all about standing up to authority, and it all started here. Begin at the Beat Museum, where you can learn about the Beat culture and the major figures of that culture. Take a step back in time as you find real artifacts from the Beat era, including original poetry and prose by Beatniks. One of the best thing about the museum is, surprisingly, its museum shop, where you can find all sorts of Beat related paraphernalia.

While the Beat Museum certainly isn't world class, it does offer an interesting look at one of the major movements in San Franciscan - and American, for that matter, culture. It can be a great way for your kids to come into contact with the great figures of this time.

Once you get done at the Beat Museum, though, you definitely need to head to the real birthplace of it all, the City Lights Bookstore. Those interested in poetry should consider attending one of the readings here, which are really interesting events. At the City Lights Bookstore, you can find classic works of Beatniks shelved alongside contemporary works from small time presses and hippie authors of all sorts. It's definitely an interesting place to find some reading material if you're looking for a new world view!

Check Out Film Night in the Park

Film Night in the Park takes place all throughout the San Francisco summers, and films are offered in San Anselmo, Fairfax, Mill Valley, San Geronimo, and San Francisco. These film nights can be fun for the entire family. Take a blanket and a picnic basket full of snacks, and enjoy all sorts of different shows. In the summer of 2010, for example, shows like 16 Candles, Avatar, Up, Amelie, Mamma Mia, and even Napoleon Dynamite were shown.

Each summer, the showings change and the schedule changes, so it's definitely a good idea to check up beforehand. From classics like Notorious to brand new movies like Sherlock Holmes, Film Night in the Park has just about everything you could want. Film Night in the Park has been around for twenty years, and it makes for a fantastic family outing. Plus, some showing raise money for local charities, which means you can be helping out your town all while enjoying your favorite movie in a quiet, warm park on a summer evening.

Memorial Plaques in the Happiest Place on Earth

Disney World is the place of dreams and magic. Within all the great things to do and see, there's also other little details that not many people know about. Disney actually has several areas where cast bronze plaques and memorial walls are part of the decor and experience of the parks. People have been leaving their mark on this world renowned attraction for years.

The first place you'll notice cast bronze plaques is in The Magic Kingdom. They are all over the park, welcoming guests and reminding them of the great people who created the parks. As you enter the tunnels of the Main Street train station as you walk into the park, there is a well known plaque that greets you with "Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy".

The most famous of memorial plaques in all of Disney World is at the base of the famous statue of Walt Disney holding Mickey Mouse's hand. It is written by Roy. O Disney in dedication of his brother, Walt, and it ends with the inspiring line "May Walt Disney World bring joy and inspiration and new knowledge to all who come to this happy place... a Magic Kingdom where the young at heart of all ages can laugh and play and learn - together".

Cast bronze plaques are also used to welcome guests into each land of the Magic Kingdom; Main Street, Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. There's also a unique version of memorial plaques as you enter Magic Kingdom. The floor below is actually made of tiles with dedications on them, whether in memory of a loved one or to commemorate a family who often visits the parks, so they can visit their stone that paves the way to the Magic Kingdom any time they visit.

Something similar was set up in EPCOT, called the "Leave a Legacy" project. As you enter the park, there are stone pillars full of memorial plaques that actually have images of people etched into them with little sayings alongside each. That way someone could leave their legacy to be displayed in the parks for years to come. To think that dozens of years down the line, someone's children could walk up to a memorial plaque that their mother and father left long ago and see their images etched forever at EPCOT.

Disney World heavily uses plaques to commemorate others as well as guide guests and truly make them feel the history of the parks. They add a beautiful aesthetic to the place and are worth stopping and admiring when you do come across them.

Exploring Ankara on Turkey Holidays

There's not much doubt that, when it comes to glamour and an international reputation for luxury, Turkey's capital of Ankara tends to have to live somewhat in the shadow of the rather more famous Istanbul. This though, is a pity, as Ankara has unique charms of its own.

The origin

Ankara is an ancient city and, as for much of Turkey, has been occupied or ruled by many different peoples down the centuries. Many of the great civilisations of Europe or the Middle East have passed this way, including the Hittites, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Turks and Mongols. It was known for many centuries, in Europe, as 'Angora' and is the origin of angora wool, cats, goats and rabbits.

Although a vast and influential city during parts of classical and early medieval history, by the start of the 20th century it had declined to something of a moderately sized backwater town of Ottoman Turkey. By the early 1920s, Turkey was making the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the modern Republic it is today and Ankara was chosen as its new capital, replacing Istanbul (Constantinople) in the process. The reasons for this relate to the politics of time and Istanbul's powerful associations with the old Ottoman regime, however, it was a very big boost to the city, which started its growth to the major metropolis of today.

Historical Turkey

As you might expect given 5000 years of history, there are many things to see in this great city.

A traditional place to start is the citadel - the most ancient part of the city dating back to well before the Romans. There is a great selection of ancient architecture and traditional Turkish housing and you'll also find some fine restaurants serving local dishes.

The 'Temple of Augustus and Rome' is another 'must' if you enjoy ancient history. The emperor Augustus is interesting for many reasons, not the least of which is that prior to his death he wrote his own form of 'autobiography' (called the 'Res Gestae') in which he gives a very romanticised and highly sanitised list of his lifetime's achievements - the best intact 'in situ' copy of this is inscribed in this temple.

It is worth making the effort to see the Roman baths, theatre, and the column of Julian. There are also several beautiful and historically interesting mosques, of which the largest (and surprisingly most recent, dating to the 1980s) is the Kocatepe Mosque, which is exceptionally beautiful and built in the Ottoman style.

It would also be a tragedy to miss The Museum of The Anatolian Civilisations. They have a fantastic range of exhibits covering many different civilisations over thousands of years. If you love history and archaeology, this will be for you.

Fun-loving Turkey

Of course, not even the most avid lover of ancient history will be able to spend all of their time in museums or walking around sites. That's when Ankara's famous caf? culture and laid-back style will appeal, as you relax and simply watch the world go by. There are also great shopping opportunities here for locally produced goods - and it may be far less frenetic than a similar expedition in Istanbul.

Luxury Turkey

When it comes to luxury, Turkey, and Ankara in particular, can more than hold its own on the world stage. The city has some very comfortable and luxurious hotels - as you would expect in any modern capital city. You can enjoy the surrounds of your charming luxury hotel or indulge in some pampering spa treatment - and when it comes to luxury, Turkey serves up more than its fair share of mouth-watering world-class cuisine in Ankara.

So, if you'd like a holiday that combines history, culture and luxury. Turkey can provide all this aplenty in the fantastic city of Ankara.

African Films for Your Safari Holidays

If you're lucky enough to have safari holidays on your agenda for the summer ahead, why not watch some of the best-known films to have come out of Africa? Due to the cagey tastes and risk aversion of distributors, the films on this list are largely big Hollywood films, but we've tried to include a handful of more obscure films too.

Tsotsi

Africa's only Academy Award winner so far deserves to be the first film on this list. Tsotsi was released in 2005 and was directed by Gavin Hood. The film came to the world's attention after winning that year's Oscar for Best Foreign Language film. While safari holidays will usually mean spending most of your time in a rural environment, Tsotsi is set in a slum outside Johannesburg and tells the story of a young car thief who steals more than he bargains for. The film features a great array of languages that foreign viewers are unlikely to have heard, including Tsotsitaal, isiZulu, isiXhosa, Setswana and Sesotho.

Blood Diamond

Many of the films that find success in the rest of the world unfortunately focus on the violence and economic problems of Africa, along with the manipulation of the country by foreign powers. Blood Diamond, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou, is set during the turbulence of the Sierra Leone Civil War and depicts the role that the international diamond trade played in exacerbating the conflict.

The Constant Gardener

Set in Kenya, a country more likely to play host to safari holidays, the Constant Gardener was adapted from a John Le Carr? novel. The film similarly explores issues of malignant Western involvement in Africa and features some stunning cinematography.

From a Whisper

Another film for those heading to Kenya on safari holidays, this film won Best Picture at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2009. From a Whisper describes the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in 1998 on Kenyan victims and their families, although the film doesn't deal with the bombing itself.

Viva Riva!

This year's winner of the Best Picture award at the African Movie Academy Awards, Viva Riva! is a taut Congolese crime thriller directed by Djo Tunda Wa Munga. The film focuses on a gang war that begins following a fuel crisis in Congo. Much of the film's dialogue is in the Lingala language.

Namibia: the Struggle for Liberation

Namibia: the Struggle for Liberation is an epic 2007 film telling the tale of the Namibian struggle for independence during the South African occupation. The film was written and directed by Charles Burnett and stars Carl Lumbly and Danny Glover.

An Asian Attraction Deeply Inspired by Buffalo

The Minangkabau culture is indeed an Asian attraction inspired by buffalo. Minangkabau is an ethnic group notably known for their multiple-layered roofs with both ends bent upwards to signify buffalo horns. Furthermore, Minangkabau women also have their headdresses made to have the shape of buffalo horns. In fact, the ethnic group is proud of their 'buffalo-horn element' as it reminds them of the wonder of wisdom in enabling them to overcome a nasty threat. The word 'Minangkabau', in the local language, means 'Victory over the Buffalo'.

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom on the island of Summatera, Indonesia. On one occasion, the Sumateran kingdom was having a conflict with another state in Java over the issue of sovereignty. The Javanese prince came to the Sumateran kingdom for negotiation but both parties became frustrated as no agreement could be reached. Finally the Javanese prince brought a big, aggressive buffalo to the Sumateran kingdom and declared that they would settle their dispute by means of bull-fighting. The party who won the bull-fighting would have the absolute right to dictate all the terms on another party. The Javanese prince emphasized that the Sumateran kingdom was given five days to prepare for the bull-fighting. If the people of the Sumateran kingdom refused to accept his proposal, war would start.

The ruler and the people of the Sumateran kingdom were extremely worried as they were sure that they would not be able to find a bull strong enough to defeat the big buffalo. The ruler gathered all his assistants to discuss and find a solution. Hours lapsed away but no progress made. Suddenly, a man came forward with a wise recommendation that delighted the ruler. The ruler ordered his people to carry out the preparation in accordance with the recommendation right away.

Quickly, the people found a young calf that was dependent on its mother's milk for its daily food. They then kept the calf away from its mother by keeping it in a cage to make it starve until the day for bull-fighting. They also fixed a few sharp, pointed knives firmly on the calf's head so that these knives became like the calf's horns. The pitiful calf groaned for its extreme hunger in the cage but the people had to harden their heart in order not to give the calf any food.

The day for bull-fighting finally came. The Sumaterans carried the starved calf to the bull-fighting site in its cage. When the Javanese prince and his followers saw the feeble calf, they mocked and laughed at the Sumaterans as they felt that the Sumaterans were funny and stupid.

To start the bull-fighting, both the Sumaterans and the Javanese released their beasts from their respective cages into the bull-fighting arena. When the hungry calf saw the buffalo, it thought the buffalo was its mother. The pitiful calf rushed desperately with all the speed it could towards buffalo as it had been longing for milk for days. Seeing the calf was running towards it, the buffalo became agitated. The buffalo immediately lowered its head and point its horns towards the calf and rushed forward. Just before the buffalo and the hungry calf was about to collide with one another, the calf stepped to the side and went under the buffalo's abdomen to look for nipples. As the calf moved its head hastily in search of nipples, the sharp knives fixed on its head injured the buffalo's abdomen. The buffalo was shocked by the intense pain of the wounds and tried to run away from the calf. Being desperate for milk and mistook the buffalo as its mother, the calf chased persistently after the buffalo. The seriously wounded buffalo kept running for a while, but very soon it collapsed and died.

The ending of the bull-fighting was a nasty shock to the Javanese prince and his followers. Seeing that the calf had killed the buffalo, the Sumaterans started to shout cheerfully, 'Minang Kabau! Minang Kabau...' It means 'Victory over the buffalo'.

Since that event, the people of that Sumateran kingdom called themselves 'Minangkabau' to remember their victory. From that time onwards, they developed the unique architectural style of roof with both ends curving upwards and the headdress with a horn-like shape to symbolize the two horns of a buffalo.

Retire Young and Work Old - Vote For a Gap Year for the Over 50s Worker

At 50 years of age many workers have already chalked up 30 years of toil. Instead of gazing down the long tunnel of their remaining work years with little chance of relief, let's make it possible for workers to take a year off and enjoy life while their health is good and they have the energy to do so.

It is time to start a dialogue with government and employer organizations about the positive impact the concept of a fully funded gap year will have on the attitude and commitment of the workforce.

After years in the same job, many mature employees have lost their energy and enthusiasm. They may become negative. This has a detrimental impact on their colleagues and on productivity. They may start to suffer from work-related depression and absenteeism increases.

Do you think that this situation would change dramatically if the opportunity is available to take a year off work with no penalty?

With high unemployment levels for the mature worker, there is little or no incentive to simply leave a job and take a chance on finding work when they are ready to return to the workforce. Financial security is important to many people and few have access to the funds needed to support themselves for a year. In Australia, superannuation funds can be accessed by early retirees once they have reached the age of 55 years. These funds can only be accessed if the person has left permanent employment and will not be engaged in part-time employment for more than 12 hours a week.

I propose a solution:

Many workers have retirement funds accruing through mandatory employer funded superannuation schemes.Allow workers over 50 years of age to access the equivalent of one year's salary from that fund when they choose to take their gap year.A year of leave should be available to all workers over 50 years with no penalty in the workplace. Their job will be there for them when they return. The year of leave can be taken at any time over the age of 50 years.

By enabling this process I believe there will be benefits to all involved:

Employers gain energetic and positive employees who can plan a sabbatical and experience some of their dreams without financial worriesEmployees will return to the workforce energized and sharpened by their experiencesOR NOT - some may choose to make a complete change to their lifestyle after having the opportunity to explore alternatives during their year off.

This process can be a WIN for all concerned. So let's start this dialogue with friends, employers and government. The workforce needs an injection of optimism and I believe this is the way to achieve it.

Find Out How You Can Learn Playing a Guitar With These Three Easy Guitar Songs

You can never find someone who does not like the guitar ' and this is because we associate guitars and guitar playing with rock stars and superstars that are famous and live the good life. If anything, this is the motivation of many people who try to learn how to play the guitar and this is also the reason why they spend a lot of time practicing to become expert players. But before you think about getting there, you should probably familiarize yourself with guitar playing and be prepared to sink in a lot of your time with practicing with easy guitar songs.

If you are a new guitar player, you should know that your strumming should be simple. Do not attempt to do the expert strumming techniques yet; you will get there soon enough. Pick songs that will only require you to do a single style of strumming so that you can learn the basics. Here are some of the suggested easy guitar songs that you can try learning first.

Many instructors recommend Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight to people who want to learn how to play the guitar. This is because the notes that are used in the song is very simple so the beginners are able to understand right away how it is played, and you cannot deny that the song is very catchy as well! The chords that you need to learn to play this song are G, D, C, and E minor - only four chords that is not that hard to learn if you are playing easy guitar songs.

Another song that you can play is You're Beautiful by James Blunt. This is a favorite of many girls because of the romantic lyrics and the simple melody of the song. If you want to play a song for a girl that you like, pick this one, as it is very easy to learn and master. The chords that you need to learn are C, G, F and A minor.

Since the two songs I have recommended are soft ballads, why not try one that will unleash the inner rock star in you? Oasis's classic song Wonderwall is also one of the easy guitar songs that you can play while you are still learning the guitar. The band has got a lot of famous songs but this is the one that you should attempt first because of its low difficulty level. Give it a few practice sessions to learn, and you will be able to play the song in no time. You will have to keep your finger on the fret three's E and B string all throughout the song and you have to strum the full six strings of the guitar to play this. The only stumbling block that you might experience is the changing of chords one at a time, but this is easy if you start with easy guitar songs to play and practice with.

Restaurants are abundant offering international and traditional food. The standard of cuisine is generally good though one should avoid establishments with overly pushy promotional staff. Traveling With Your Pet - Things To Know

In recent years, more and more people have chosen to bring their pet with them when they travel. Many hotels now offer pet-friendly rooms, dog food on the hotel menu, and even massages and other more luxurious amenities. However, in spite of all of these new accommodations, it can still be difficult to get your pet to and from your destination, especially if you will be required to fly.

When you fly with your pet, there will always be some cost involved. The cost will vary based on whether you fly with your pet under your seat or in the cargo hold. In addition, prices for flying with pets have been recently raised by all major carriers. In fact, it now costs more to fly with a pet than it does to have a child fly alone. Flying with a pet can cost as much as $500 for a round trip ticket.

Understanding the costs involved in flying with your pet is important, but it is equally important to be aware of the safety issues associated with putting your pet on an airplane. It is possible for your pet to be lost, injured, or even die while in transit. In 2010, 39 animals passed away while on commercial planes. This number has gone up considerably since 2009. Since hundreds of thousands of pets are flown by airlines each year, this isn't an extremely large percentage. However, pets are exposed to significant dangers while on airplanes, such as difficulty breathing at high altitudes and extremely high or low temperatures.

Fortunately, some airlines now have climate-controlled holding areas for pets to prevent them from being exposed to extreme temperatures. In addition, some airlines even have frequent flier programs that apply to pets. Even with the new pet-friendly accommodations, can still be dangerous and sometimes frustrating to fly with your pet. However, there are a few things you can do to simplify the process and make it as smooth as possible.

1. Make sure you are using the right carrier.

Depending on your specific flight, regulations governing the maximum size of your pet's carrier will be different. For this reason, you should contact the airline directly once your reservation has been made to determine what the specific rule is for your flight. Your pet must be able to lie down, turn around, and stand up comfortably in whatever carrier you use.

2. Book your flight well in advance.

All airlines have a limit to the number of pets they will permit in the cabin, so make sure you book your flight early.

3. Prepare your pet for the trip.

Take the time to get your pet used to the carrier by putting your pet inside and placing it on the floor of your car. That way, your pet will be used to the vibration he will be experiencing on the plane. You can also use lavender oil to calm your pet by helping him associate the scent with routine activities. Do this by putting a few drops of the oil on your hands before feeding and walks and allow him to pick up the scent. This will cause your dog to have a positive association with the scent. Then, you can put some of the scent in the carrier to so he will relax on the plane. You can also tire your pet out with a long walk prior to the flight so he will be more likely to relax and fall asleep.

The Ease And Convenience Of The Airport Taxi Service

Flying can be a big hassle these days. The old hazards of weather and mechanical problems are still with us, but now there are new challenges. Long security lines, charges for baggage, difficulty in changing tickets can all make the airport experience stressful. The airport taxi service is a way to reduce the anxiety level of a long day getting from here to there.

This is one worry that need not hang over a vacation or business journey. Swift and competent transportation to the departure point is available from an airport taxi service. Professional drivers will pick you up right in front of your home and take you directly to the curbside of the airline you have chosen.

Many people do not know that a reservation for this service can often be made as late as a few hours before you need to arrive at the airport. Arrangements can usually be completed either by phone or online. Unlike airline tickets, plans for a car or shuttle service are easy to modify if your schedule suddenly changes.

Long-term parking is a solution for some people, but rates for even a week-long stay at such a facility can mount into the hundreds of dollars. The spaces reserved for cars that are staying for an extended period may also be quite far from the baggage claim area. The tired traveler must then trudge with all the luggage to his or her car, perhaps in inclement or cold weather.

Public transportation to most airports is provided by the city or county of that area. Remember, however, that parking at a train or commuter rail station may not be allowed for more than one day without a fee. Such charges will accrue on a per diem basis, and in the case of a journey of more than five or six days, easily surpass the cost of an airport taxi service.

For those travelers unfamiliar with the layout of the airport or the approaches to it, a luxurious cab ride in a comfortable seat can spare them an anxious search for the correct exit or place to park. Airport police with whistles now routinely wave away from the curbside any car parked more than half a minute or so, making pickups of friends or family especially difficult in our security-conscious era. With so much irritation waiting inside the terminal, at least the trip to and from it can be easy and pleasant.

But the case of a well-traveled business person is no different. They know all too well the perils of leaving one's unattended vehicle in a back lot for days or weeks, as well as getting caught on a crowded bus that suddenly needs to change drivers or stop for a mandated break. A friendly and courteous cab driver will lift all suitcases into his trunk and perhaps chat about that day's conditions at the departure point. After all, he's probably been there recently.

But the most important reason comes last: the airport taxi service is very affordable. No other mode of transit is both fast and light on the wallet. Ride in leisure and leave the driving to a licensed conductor. The trials to be faced later at the security checkpoints and scanning machines will be that much less burdensome to face.
